It has been rather busy here lately.
My dad has been home from the hospital for two weeks...
My dad has been home from the hospital for two weeks...
recovering from hip surgery...
and yesterday Dad and Marge moved to their new home.
Between appointments and moving arrangements...
summits and birthday parties...
summits and birthday parties...
and having grands staying with us while their parents are away...
life has not been boring.
One morning the grands and I went for a walk along the river.
The rivers in our part of the country aren't all that peaceful...
especially when the snow is still melting on the mountains.
But as we walked that morning...
I had to think of a song that spoke of 'peace like a river'.
It made sense...
even if the waters still flowed fast.
Those fisherman had not one care in the world...
other than to catch a big one.
And what could be more peaceful than sitting on the shore and strumming?
Or more relaxing than breathing in the heady scent of flowers blooming along the path?
Some come to read the morning paper...
and sip their favorite drink.
Some come to watch the grands have a fun time exploring!
It was peaceful down at the river!
Just what I needed.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sounds like a pleasant time... a gift from God just for you!
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful how the river draws us and refreshes our souls! I can almost hear the water's rush, smell the heady scents, and feel the breeze in your pictures. Beautiful pictures! I hope your hectic schedule slows down over the rest of the summer.
ReplyDeleteA river walk can certainly be restorative - such a beautiful walk that is.
ReplyDeleteYou've had a full schedule, for certain! You are the 'maypole' around which your family dances - you keep the ribbons of their lives and activities all moving and swirling. I hope you get a little time just for yourself soon.
That's a great word analogy...a place of restoration...it's interesting how nature can sooth so many areas of our business. I need a river in my life about now to sooth out all the business...
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you had a peaceful time to walk along the river...the grands look very happy to run along, too. It just sounds so busy in your corner. So busy that even the rivers serve as a metaphor. Hope that your dad and Marge are getting all settled in and are comfortable in their new home.
ReplyDeletePeace like a river....I like that. I felt the peacefulness in your words even as I read this post. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had time to do this Judy. An oasis in the midst of a very busy summer.
ReplyDeleteThe river walks are "my peace" as well these days. How awesome it is to have this in our backyard where we can take full advantage of the gifts of God and nature.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you are catching peace in the midst of all the chaos around you! Beautiful shots along the river walk, Judy.
ReplyDeleteWater seems to bring peace doesn't it? Beautiful photos. Those fishermen looks so small on the sandbar. Enjoy the weekend. Blessings, Pamela
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear your father's surgery went well and he and Marge were able to move into their new home. It does look peaceful by the river. I hope you get some nice quiet time very soon before summer is over!
ReplyDeleteLove this peaceful post! I know you've had some days behind you, and yet you took time to go down to the river. That is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteSomedays we just need those river walks, especially when one has all the many demands that you have right now. "Peace Like A River" is one of my favorite songs and this post depicted it beautifully.
