warm hands...warm hearts!

Brrrrrr! The north wind sailed into the valley and we had a blast of winter over the weekend. As we have done for the past number of years, we all gathered at Tim and Heidi’s on Saturday night to take in our local Christmas Parade of Lights with the kids. Everyone was all bundled up as we parked ourselves along the parade route and waited for the action to begin.

The kids didn’t seem to mind the cold at all! The girls had loot bags along this year; they came prepared to gather all the candy canes that get tossed their way. It was a short and sweet parade this year…there were lots of trucks and tractors to keep Ryder happy, but it was all over before we were chilled to the bone. Tim invited us in for coffee and goodies…we had us a little party and by the time we left the snow was coming down big-time, but we were warm from the inside out!

Sunday we woke up to a winter-wonderland and the snow continued to fall all day. It was the perfect day to gather together some old friends for a party. If you're looking for a game to play over the holidays, try 'Apples to Apples'. We had such a hoot! It's a super simple game & the more playing the merrier. The object of the game is to play a card from your hand that best describes the adjective the judge throws out. Players take turns being 'the judge', so the fun part is choosing a card based on what you think the judge’s preferences are. It's a fun game and a great way to spend time with friends or family.

It was late by the time everyone left...the snow was turning to freezing rain. Today we are facing slush and preparing for the 'pineapple express' that is supposed to be dumping four inches of rain on us in the next day or two. That's winter weather on the west coast!

I'm off to buy some flowers for someone dear to my heart.

  3. Hey, it sure sounds like you had fun at the parade. Such cute pictures.

I have to admit I listened to the Josh Groban CD over the weekend...
But we'll enjoy it again on Thursday.

I'm off to buy your new game.

  4. Judy - Your part of the world is beautiful! I've never been to Canada but my folks have and it is gorgeous! Ya'll actually have winter and snow! We haven't seen real snow in a long time. I've been listening to the Josh Groban Christmas CD trying to get in the spirit here, but it's hard when we have been having 80 degree temps lately...

Thanks for your comments on my new blog - by the way, your grandkids are precious and look so toasty that they can hardly move. They look like little snowbabies! Vickie

  5. How sweet are those little ones all lined up waiting for the parade to start? Makes me miss having a baby or toddler in the house...

  6. Wow, what fun to bundle up your little ones and go to a parade of lights on a cold winter night. You need to be named "Grandma of the Year for all the things you do for your precious little ones". (Also Mother of the year -- And sister in Law of the Year.) Judy you are one in a Million. I High Five You!
