There is no Santa Claus.
So the Vancouver Canucks discovered last night!
For those of you who are not from this part of the world...
where everything seems to have revolved around ice hockey for the past few months...
let me explain.
The Vancouver Canucks had a chance to bring home the coveted Stanley Cup last night...
and failed to deliver.
We are all disappointed...
but found the loss easier to accept knowing that the majority of the Boston players are Canadian.
And since we thought there might be something to celebrate...
we made sure we had good food and good friends to share the evening with.
Did you know that disappointments are easier to swallow in the company of friends?
Now that hockey is officially behind us...
we are ready for summer.
It must be just around the corner!
I am from Boston. So, while I am sorry that some one had to lose I'm awful glad it wasn't the Bruins. One of the goalies on your team is from my home town of Marblehead, MA.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a hockey fan, but since you and other Canadian bloggers I read have been posting about the Stanley Cup games, I've been keeping an eye on them this year. I was sorry to see that your team lost last night. I'll tell you the same thing I tell my husband every year when the San Diego Chargers don't make the Super Bowl... "there's always next year"!

ReplyDeleteI know everyone was very disappointed but I was sad to see the news of what happened in Vancouver after the loss! :(
ReplyDeleteSports teach a good lesson that sometimes even when you try your best you can still fail, but you never give up! It is am important lesson for young people to learn that and to know that there is always "next year."
We were very distracted by wee ones so we couldn't even begin to wallow in the dissapointment. I was fine until I saw what happened after the fact.

Yes, we're disappointed we lost but nothing like how disappointed and saddened we are by the hooliganism displayed by the few who came prepared to create mayhem last night. Please don't judge Vancouver by those few who caused so much trouble. Most Vancouverites were appalled and disgusted by what happened.

Until the ugliness, we were all pretty upbeat about the loss here because it was a great series. We got to watch some pretty exciting hockey!

A long time ago the Pittsburgh Pirates won the World Series in baseball and then the fans went on to disgrace the town with their shenanigans. There is that element to every championship that is completely unnecessary!

ReplyDeleteI'm sad for you, but thrilled for us! It was a great series, as I said in my post, I love it when it goes the entire 7 games instead of a sweep. Well, as they say, there's always next year . . . and who knows, we may be in last place in 2012! Ya just never know!
ReplyDeleteDisappointment is part of life......in a game someone wins and someone looses. How sad when people can't face a lose with dignity. How nice it would have been for us to congratulate the Bruins on their win and the Canuck's for their great effort this season. I'm sure the riot acts were cause for great sadness for the teams.
