We piled into the car early Saturday morning...
...and headed south for a MGCC book signing field day!
First stop...
the Barnes and Noble bookstore in Bellingham, Washington.
the Barnes and Noble bookstore in Bellingham, Washington.
The staff was ready and waiting.
After a quick coffee break compliments of Starbucks...
we donned our aprons and pulled out our pens.
(l-r Judy, Ellen, Marg, Debora ~ standing, Kathy, Bev, Anneliese, Lovella)
We met such wonderful people...
like Debora who we have visited with in blogdom on occasion.
There were others...
such as Barb and Cindy...
and two sweet sisters who discovered they had ties to Kathy and Marg.
And the warm and friendly staff who came and bought books...
and has us autograph them.
And when our 'meet and greet' was done...
we slipped across the road to enjoy lunch at the Olive Garden.
It's not often that there are seven of us 'girls' together at one spot...
and so we made the most of it!
And then it was time to head north again...
and on to our next stop for the day.
We were honoured to be part of Ten Thousand Villages 65th anniversary celebration...
by signing books at their venue on Commercial Drive in Vancouver.
They had great entertainment out on the sidewalk...
which was definitely more of a draw than the girls in aprons!
But again it was such a pleasure to meet those who came expressly to see us.
Beth brought Sutha and her young daughter...
who have all been cooking from the cookbook.
We had a wonderful visit...
and hope to one day sample Sutha's cooking at Pasparos Greek Restaurant in North Vancouver.
Another gal came to have us sign her copy of the cookbook.
She had cooked up cabbage rolls...
which were in the back room waiting to be sampled.
How about that!
( l-r Anneliese with her kids and grands ~ Marg with her daughter)
And...
last but not least...
it's always so fun to have our families come out and show their support!
It was a great day!
Thanks to all who continue to support us...
as we raise funds to feed hungry children.
I'm so thrilled that you girls are having such fun with this! I bought your cookbook when it first came out and I've told all my friends about it. Thanks for sharing your "on the road" experiences.

ReplyDeleteWoot Woot...the first international book signing! Two countries in one day!
ReplyDeleteYou all looked so pretty, and it sounds like the book signings were a success!

ReplyDeleteI like your first photo - the signed page. It was a lot of fun to spend the day together.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a great day. So sweet to hear how you are being blessed as you are blessing others....so great how God does that!
ReplyDeleteWhat pleasure to see your post and others inclusion of Sutha (pronounced Suda) and her sweet daughter. I passed this on to her boss at Pasparos - delightful for them too. If you go for a meal there aim for a weekday lunch and ask to see Sutha - she'd be thrilled! We were buoyed by our time with the 7 of you, and cooking from your cookbook and blog will mean so much more to us. I love my 1/2 Mennonite-ness, and my family loves sharing life (a big part of which is centred around food) with diverse cultures in this city God has placed us in. Thank you for including recipes from around the globe.
ReplyDeleteBy the way Judy - I saw your previous post in time to display a lovely plate on a stand and use a dry erase pen to write a birthday greeting for one of our sons dinner party last evening. That idea is now on 'brain lock' for me - love it!!
So very exciting for you all!!! I am so happy for you. I will have to check for it..is it at all Barnes and Nobles?
ReplyDeleteHugs!

ReplyDeleteRecently I purchased the MGCC cookbook and have enjoyed spending time pouring over the stories and recipes. What a wonderful gift you are giving to the children of the world. May God continue to bless each of you!
What an adventure God has taken you all on! Truly, could you have ever imagined that all this was ahead for you? It is so much fun to see doors opening, families included, and delicious recipes being shared in a world wide basis. I love seeing how God works. You all are a beautiful reflection of God's amazing love! No wonder so many people attend the book signings:)
