Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
We see eagles on our farm throughout the winter months but can’t usually get close enough for a good photo. But today, we snapped away…and the eagle never moved!
We first heard about this incredible bird on Global news (or was it the Vancouver paper?) a few weeks ago and discovered it was exactly one mile east of our farm in Chilliwack…at the end of a dead-end road. This morning we took an out-of-town tour group for a visit (well, family actually) and were once again amazed.
The eagle is a sculpture, which was nine months in the making and is called “The Power of Flight”. It has a forty-foot wingspan and stands 11 feet tall…rather an imposing bird. It was created by Kevin Stone out of mirror polished stainless steel and is part of a package of three sculptures, which are being sold to China for display at the Beijing airport for the 2008 Olympics.
The bald eagle won’t be back in the area for a few months, but if you are interested in seeing the giant replica in our ‘front yard’, come check it out at 8501 Upper Prarie Road in Chilliwack.
That is my favorite verse in the Bible. It really gives me strenghth when I need it.
