My sister and BIL hosted an old-fashioned carol sing at their place on Saturday night...and filled their home with friends and relatives...and lots of songs. And when the singing died down...we filled up on fabulous food...while the die-hard musicians jammed on for our listening pleasure. We stayed until all hours...and left thinking 'it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!'
Today there is a new song in the air...one we practised around our table yesterday. We had the gang in for turkey dinner...
...and birthday cake for dessert. Happy Birthday to Lisa...our wonderful DIL, fabulous mom and loving wife to our son, Kris.
I know what you would like more than anything for your birthday...would be a good night's sleep. Although that is not something we can do much about...we wish you a most wonderful birthday...and many blessings in the year ahead.
Have a wonderful day...
An old-fashion Christmas carol sing...how special! I have not been to one of them for a few years. The smiles on the faces of those attending was a good indicator of the fun it was. Your daughter-in-law is beautiful! The cake was so festively done with the sparkler on it. And, I can tell you someone else whose most desired birthday wish would be to have a good night's sleep. I smiled as I read that. What a great holiday post!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun a carol sing! A very happy birthday to your DIL!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Lisa - I wish you a wonderful year with your two beautiful children and great husband. Sleepless nights -- with baby!! Prayers for you, that Micah will soon be sleeping through.

What a wonderful idea of Christmas carol singing. Looks like everyone had a fantastic time...I still can hear people talking about it..
ReplyDeleteSomehow the music flowed through the valleys.
This looks like a wonderful evening and family get together! It is such a special time of the year for all and singing carols together must have been so joyful!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your beautiful DIL Lisa!
We watched videos of our little grandson with his parents last week at their home. They were of his first days home from the hospital after his birth, and then his first weeks and months of life. We all marveled at how quickly time passes, so tell Lisa to hold on and enjoy her sleepless nights with her infant, as they too will pass too quickly!
Love the look of people playing instruments ... I miss that with a number of our kids gone.
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy Birthday to the girl with the beautiful cake!
I'm jealous of your carol singing. I know it is not nice to be jealous. .but Oh its' been a long long time since I sat and sang carols.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your beautiful dil ...
That looked like so much fun! We used to do that when I lived near my parents for a few years. There were always a few instruments, lots of voices, lots of fun. What a good idea!
