We had no idea we were about to be treated to a fancy-schmancy tea party. Aunt Maggie had not been feeling all that well lately...and we were not expecting to be served refreshments at all. From the finest china to all the little details...it was most special. Oh...and the tea was excellent. I took a photo of the two of them that day...and today seemed like the perfect day to post it.
On this day fifty-five years ago...
...Uncle Jake and Aunt Maggie were married. I was the wee princess in the pale blue organza and tulle dress who carried flowers for them on their special day.
I have no idea where the years have gone...but today they are celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. I wish them both much joy as they continue to face each new day...together.
Happy anniversary,
Uncle Jake and Aunt Maggie!
Uncle Jake and Aunt Maggie!
Judy what a wonderful tribute to two lovely folks. Pass my congrats on to them. They both look very content and the table looks so inviting. Family is the most important thing in the world to me and you also, I know.

ReplyDeleteOh that looks so King and Queenish. Love that great wedding photo. How sweet that she was able to treat you all when you visited, too. Congratulations to them on 55 years!!
ReplyDeleteVery special...and wonderful that your aunt was able to put on such a beautiful tea for you. I'm sure that it gave her great joy. What a handsome couple still after all these years. Those smiles could warm an entire home.

ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to your aunt and uncle ! and Wow... has that wee flowergirl ever grown up ! (smile)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous wedding photo ... but she is every bit as sweet still ! smile..
Does anyone take lovely studio portraits like that anymore? As much as I like the outdoors-everyone-jumping-around-in-a-field sort of wedding picture, I can't help but feel that generations to come will much prefer the clarity of the moment that is produced by a photo such as this one. You are a perfect princess!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Jake and Maggie - whom I grew up calling uncle and aunt, too, since they are good friends of my parents.
ReplyDeleteI echo Pondside's comments about studio photos - they evoke something about the formality of the occasion and the seriousness of marriage along with the joy that is experienced.
Aww what sweet photos!
ReplyDeleteI know Aunt Maggie; they are a wonderful couple. Happy Anniversary to them!! Love the wedding picture
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post. They look so precious! And I LOVE that wedding photo...amazing.

True love brings many wonderful memories and blessings!
Thanks for the lovely tribute to mom and dad! They are amazing and are an inspiration...a true example of a happy marriage.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary to Uncle Jake and Aunt Maggie! What mischief that little 4-yr-old girl used to get into when Uncle Jake was around!
