in our hands...

It has been a long time in the works...
the second Mennonite Girls Can Cook cookbook...
called Celebrations.
We knew the printers were working on it...
and that we would have it in our hands by May 1st.
What good news to hear the books were ahead of schedule...
and leaving the printers en route to warehouses around the continent earlier last week.
Those boxes bound for British Columbia were scheduled to arrive here by Friday.
The ones with with our names on it...
were being trucked directly to Lovella's.

So we planned a wee impromptu celebration party at her place...
for Friday afternoon...
hoping that the books would be there by the time we arrived.

Hmmm.
We were all there (the valley girls except Kathy)...
ready and waiting...
but the books were not!

Ellen, Betty and Char joined us from afar via Google hang-outs.
Betty had volunteered to bring Manitoba's favorite Bothwell cheese to our party...
and though she couldn't be there in person...
the cheese was!

But where were the books?

We never had to wait long...
before the truck rolled into the yard with its special delivery.

And before we knew it...
there was a box of books for each of us on the coffee table.

How fun to open our boxes together...
and page through the Celebrations cookbook for the first time...
at the same time.

How nice to hold it in our hands...
at long last.

I'm thinking you might like to hold one in your hands as well!
And you can.
Head over to the Mennonite Girls Can Cook blog this morning...
where we are having a cookbook giveaway.
Or you might just want to check out a retailer near you...
as I have heard rumours that they are already on some shelves.

Check it out.
I think you will like it!

  4. I'm so happy to see this day through your eyes. I am helping myself to some of your photos...of the truck and Terry putting boxes down. It is hard to believe we are now on this side of that day. So happy we could share this day together.

  10. Another Milestone as we recognize together the movement of hands. Just to be able to hold it and admire the work and hours that have consumed many of us.
