it's a new year...

It's a new day.
It's a new month.
It's a new year.
I'm starting it off in a new way.

For six years I have blogged...often.
On this...
the seventh year...
I am taking a bit of a break.

Let's call it a sabbatical....
'ceasing to work in the seventh year'.
See...
it's even Biblical!

I'll be back...
sometime.

But for now...
I'll be away from 'My Front Porch'.

Don't be surprised if I show up at your doorstep from time to time though!

I'll leave you with an Irish prayer for the new year...
Count your blessings instead of your crosses;
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Count on God instead of yourself. - See more at: http://todayiamblessed.com/gods-blessings/#sthash.stDPXs9P.dpuf

  4. That is a wonderful blessing!

    In my selfishness, I am quite sad to read that you will be taking a sabbatical. When you are ready to return, you'll find that we have kept the light on for you. Blogdom will not be the same without my long-time blogging buddy.

    Happy New Year to both you and Elmer and all the Mt. Cheam clan!

  5. I too will be sad not to read you regular goings on. I have followed faithfully but have not commented often. Your posts have always inspired me. I've enjoyed those family times and all those trips. I understand that sometimes a break is necessary. I will be checking in to see when you reappear. Enjoy your sabbatical and may it be a year of Jubilee! Wishing you and your family a very blessed 2014.

  15. I'm also one who will miss your posts, but totally understand the need for that sabbatical. Maybe I'll be next, after your return. I'm so thankful for the connection we have made through blogging and I know this will not change that. Take care.

  17. I am so thankful for you! I am so thankful for all I have learned from you, and from all the daily inspiration I gleaned from every visit. Breaks are important in life, but if and when you come back to blogging, you will be welcomed back with open arms. Until then, my thoughts and prayers are with you, whenever you come to my mind.

    Thank you so much Judy, for your consistent and so interesting posts over the years. You are one special lady!

  19. A Sabbatical is good thing. You've had a busy couple of years. I took a two month break in the fall, and it was timely. Take good care! I hope we can make plans to get together in February when I'm in your valley.

  26. I can understand needing a break, Judy. It has been challenging for me to keep up with my blog as I am a full time grandchild caretaker most days. I miss it though, when I don't blog, and I think you will also. Enjoy your break and I hope you'll continue to visit me from time to time!
