Vote for Vancouver ...

For all you Monopoly fans out there...you may be interested in knowing that Parker Brothers would like your input in the newest version of their game. They are creating the first global Monopoly game, and are planning to include our favorite cities. They have pre-selected 68 worldwide cities and you can vote for ten...the twenty cities with the highest number of votes on February 28th will make it onto the board of the new game. So go cast your vote for your favorites!

And here are a few reasons why you should cast a vote for Vancouver, British Columbia. I'm not much of a city person, but it is a beautiful city...especially if you visit on a sunny summer day.

I took these photos from the span of the Lions Gate Bridge last summer...as we pedaled our bikes across. That bridge is much longer and steeper than meets the eye!

Vancouver was originally founded as a gold rush city in the 1800s, and is located amid the lush forests of British Columbia and the beauty of the Strait of Georgia. It is also home to one of the largest urban parks in North America, Stanley Park, where one can spend hours strolling the seawall...

...or enjoying the lovely gardens!

And, should you tire of the hustle and bustle of the urban centre, the quiet of the seashore is not far away. Be sure to check out Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver.

Although Vancouver drivers don't do so well in the snow, the city is also a most beautiful spot to visit on a snowy winter's day.

So as the sun rises on the city, hop over and cast your vote for Vancouver...we hope to see our city on the new global Monopoly game!

  1. What a wonderful spokeswoman you make! Vancouver is gorgeous, but I don't guarantee that I can vote for her; I'll have to see what else is offered. ;> I feel sooooo cheeky!

  3. Okay, you'll be happy to know that I voted for Vancouver...and Boston, and NYC, and Chicago, and Toronto, and Montreal, and Los Angeles, and London, and Paris, and Vienna. Gee, I probably could have left off Chicago to vote for Rome instead. Sigh. Tomorrow's another day!
