not too shabby...

When we were first married...
and settled into our little home out in the country...
we had wonderful neighbours.
We were newly wed...
they had a growing family at the time.
The man of the house often came to our place for coffee in the evenings...
and all sorts of problems got solved around our kitchen table.
Eventually, we moved on...
they stayed put.
But we kept in touch with them from time to time.

Time marches on.
Their son called us around Christmas time and invited us to a milestone anniversary celebration for his parents.
He wondered if we knew they had moved.
No we didn't.
He gave us the address of their new residence...
and we joined them there for their party.

Lovely place.
I could quite like living here!
I'm just saying...
if I have to go to assisted living one day...
I've got my eye on this place.
It's out in the country...
with a view of my favorite mountain peak.

I wish the two of them many more happy times together...
in their new home.

  1. I love finding old friends I've lost contact with over the years...it has happened to me twice this year and what a treat it was to find them ! But hoping you won't be worrying about assisted living places for some time to come.

  4. What a wonderful way to celebrate. Reconnecting is such a gift. Assisted living? I had to go back and make sure these friends were not your age. Beautiful home! I'll sign up right after you.

  5. Lovely to be able to catch up after so long. Such a beautiful home too. I am sure my mother will be moving to assisted housing in the not too distant future and I hope we find somewhere as nice as this.

  11. For some reason your picture today won't load on my computer. Yesterday only a couple loaded, the rest were just white spaces. Thought you'd like to know...

  14. Can I sign up too? What fun to reconnect with dear friends, especially in such a lovely setting. Of course, I think the same thing every time I leave my mother-in-law's home. But, then I remind myself how YOUNG I am :)
