we came...we signed...we saw...we retreated...

And now...
we are back home.

We sailed away on a sunny spring day...
on the wings of a West Jet flight.

We were off to Manitoba for a few days...
six of us MGCC girls from the west coast...
to meet up with the two in Manitoba.

It was the perfect morning to fly over my part of the world...
to see Harrison Lake from up above and all the mountain peaks that lie just beyond Mt. Cheam.

The purpose of our mission?
We had five book signings scheduled over there...
as part of the Celebrations book launch.

That was our excuse to spend a few days together in Manitoba.
There wasn't a dull moment!

We stayed at a spanking new retreat center just outside of the city...
where each room had a seasonal theme.
The rooms rang with laughter...
let me tell you!
The place was aptly named...
and we left there feeling refreshed.

We signed books at McNally Robinson...
three different Ten Thousand Village stores...
and at the Mennonite Museum in Steinbach.
We met the friendliest of folks...
and I had a chance to catch up with extended family that I rarely see.
We also visited Betty and Charlotte in their homes...
and met their families...
and experienced their warm hospitality.

Not surprisingly...
we had a chance to sit around many a table and sample some fabulous foods.

Each of those photos has a story waiting to be told...
but for today I'll just leave you with a few mosaics.

I'll be back...
with the rest of the story.

  5. This looks to me to be the perfect way to a fun weekend! The mosaics sure do depict joy, fun, refreshment, laughter, and many memorable moments. I am so happy for you all and find it so amazing where all you are being led to go and the people you are gifted to meet. I like the chandelier on the picture featuring you.

  7. Judy, you did such a good job on your mosaics. I looked closely at them, noticing the different bedrooms and thinking they each had a different personality (before I read that they were seasons). The retreat center is gorgeous; I love the 2 story fireplace. I am curious about how you cook when 8 of you are all together. I wonder if you have your menus planned in advance and different girls scheduled on different meals, or what. It looks like such fun. Congrats on Book Two's success!

    1. Hollace...we never cooked even one little bit over the weekend. The retreat centre provided breakfast and snacks...and all other meals were arranged in advance by Char and Betty (cooked by their friends and family...or provided at the places where we signed books). It was a treat...from beginning to end.

On second thought, I would have enjoyed being aroud those tables, inspite of the calories.

  11. Your circle of friends must be an amazing group, Judy. It must have been wonderful to visit two of your circle and experience their hospitality. I wonder how you stay so slim but the hiking and tennis must help. Looking forward to the rest of your stories.

  13. Your mosaics tell stories of everything from silly times to good food, signing books and meeting new people. Like Ellen said, I too like looking through the lense of each others cameras now that we are back at home.

  14. What a wonderful trip! I love those mountain views form the airplane. It looks like your book signing was a success, and the assorted dinners you attended look scrumptious!

PS: To answer you question on my blog: Yes, my sister-in-law told me that the pizzeria that sends out NY Flying Pizza told her that they will deliver anywhere in the world! Shipping must be expensive, however, so I'm sure that would have to be taken into consideration :)

  15. Glad you had a good time. The retreat center looks like a lovely place. What's on the pillow that Ellen is holding? I tried enlarging the photo but couldn't get it big enough to read.
