It's been a lovely month here in the valley.
Sunny and dry...
and very hot for a spell!
We have enjoyed the blooms of spring...
...and the smell of freshly mowed grass.
The first crop of grass is in the bunker...
and the corn fields are planted and thriving at the moment.
Everything is beginning to look thirsty though and we hope for rain soon.
We had a few birthdays.
What better way to celebrate a milestone birthday with Broni than with a special lunch at Revive Bistro with 'the girls'?
We took Ranen out for her birthday lunch before her shift at a local farm attraction ...
where she has been helping host school groups.
She manages to fit work into her daytime schedule,
when evenings revolve around violin and Irish dance.
She just received the coveted 'N' and is now driving on her own!
Where have the years gone?
So thankful for all the good memories we have made together!
Who knew that Lucy could jump?
She competed in hurdles and high jump at the district track and did great.
She may be short, but she has spring!
We have close friends with a special adult son who lives with them.
Chris discovered that we had a 'gangster car' and was wondering if he could have a ride sometime.
Last week Elmer picked him up and took him to DQ for an ice-cream treat.
That made his day!
After years of planning and many disruptions...
the twinning of the Trans-Mountain pipeline is finally happening in our neighbourhgood.
It makes getting around a little tricky at times.
The work is happening right across the road from the farm and through property that is leased for cropping.
We ended the month with a little get-away on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
We stayed in Sechelt overnight...
and took a tour up the Princess Louisa Inlet from Egmont the next day.
It is really a beautiful place,
accessible only by boat or air.
There is so much to see 'just around the corner'...
right close to home!
I'm happy to be first to say, what a great month, captured with such beautiful photos! I love that Chris got to ride your gangster car! 😂 And your little adventure on the Sunchine Coast looks like a perfect get-away!
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to say that you got a great shot of Lucy! Why am I not surprised she can jump high?
ReplyDeleteA beautiful month and such a beautiful family you all are! Thank you for the monthly posts as I think of you often. Gangster Car!!! I just LOVE that!!! Love you, Judy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great month you had! We've been to Princess Louisa Inlet in our boat and agree that it's a sensational place to go! How kind of Elmer to take Chris out in the "gangster car". And how those grands are growing!
ReplyDeleteHappy June, Judy! I love catching up with you! Your may sounds like it was very pleasant. I can't believe how grown up your granddaughters are but then I remember that mine are also growing like weeds and keeping us very busy with all their sports, music, art, dance, etc, etc. It is wonderful to share it all with them.
ReplyDeleteWe have a friend here in Colorado who still owns her parents Iowa farm, which she now rents out to another farmer, and a pipeline was also made to travel through it. She was well compensated, so she did not mind too much and it did not take up too much of her land. Have a wonderful summer!
The end of May and beginning of June got away from me this year. Love your recap and seeing the photos here. That milestone birthday girl and spot are beautiful. So nice to have a sweet lady time together to celebrate. Ranen is quite an accomplished young lady. Love that shot of Lucy flying over the hurdle. Saying a little prayer here that she will be able to sail over the hurdles life throws her way. Love the gangster car story. Sweet of Elmer to treat your friend's son in that way. Gorgeous views from the inlet!! Happy June to you.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Broni and Ranen often share birthday celebrations? Happy Birthday to both 🎈🎈
ReplyDeleteWow! Lucy is flying. She looks as if she loves it.
May looked beautiful and June will do equally well I am sure. Enjoy!
Getting everyone together for all the birthdays has become increasingly difficult, so Ranen and Auntie Broni had their own celebrations this year. I think Broni celebrated all month, since this was a big one for her.
