a special luncheon...

Monday...June 22nd...had been circled on my calendar for a very long time. I had an invitation to join a group of friends for lunch at the home of Anneliese. These friends have...for the most part...just become friends over the past year...as we are all contributors to the Mennonite Girls Can Cook recipe blog. Planning a luncheon that we could all fit into our schedule, proved to be a difficult task...since it seems we are all coming or going at this stage of our life. But yesterday was the day...and what a fine time the seven of us had (three were unable to fly in for the occasion)! There was so much to talk about...and when we finally parted ways...we all knew there was still much to be said. So...I'm thinking we may meet like this again...sometime soon.

I am not accustomed to having a table set this way for lunch...or having a place card at my spot...or sitting at the lunch table until almost dinnertime...but I think I could get used to it quite nicely!

If you would like to check out Bella Bruschetta Salad...part of our luncheon menu...you can find it posted right here. Or...maybe I could interest you in trying Anneliese's Raisin Apple Bread, which was also on the buffet table...and was most delicious. Thanks, Anneliese, for having us...we had a wonderful time!

Have a great day...

  1. How fortunate we are to have been part of two special events yesterday. I know I would have loved being in the pressence of so many accomplished cooks, for an afternoon of conversation and fun. I am copying down both of the recipes. Thank you for sharing them. The pictures are beautiful of the table.

  2. Wow! What a beautiful table! Even the napkins matched the gorgeous china, and all of the neat little things placed around the table. And the hearts and Bible verse on hearts, how special. It would have been enough for me just to sit there and enjoy the feast for the eyes - forget the food, till it arrived! Sure looked delicious. Truly a special luncheon for some very special ladies, I'm sure. I'm glad I'm not the next in line to be the hostess. I don't know how anyone could duplicate that. Events like that are a long-lasting glow in the heart. :-)

  4. Just for the record, I couldn't remember the last time I set tea cups on the table . . . in fact, I figured I'd better wash them first.
So my hubby does not come home to name tags etc . . .=) Like I said to Lovella, sounds like more fuss than necessary, but thank you, Judy. I'm so glad I've been able to get to know you better this year.

I especially liked the tag on the unique tea bag? Can you or Anneliese give me information where they were purchased? Thanks!

  7. That mosaic is absolutely beautiful. There are so many beautiful things to look at. Cooking is not my strongest point and I admire those who do have that skill. Blessings

  10. My but that luncheon spread looks tempting - so colourful and fresh!

Isn't it nice to sit at an elegant luncheon table and be treated as a special guest? I'll have to pop over to MMGCC to look for those recipes.
