...and over at the farm Bentley showed me how it was done. The cats were impressed! He was actually more interested in the KFC that was being delivered for the guys who were working late into the evening. Our tractor will be out of commission for some time...but once the neighbours were done with theirs...it became ours until our grass is harvested. Neighbours are a good thing!
Yesterday was May 13th...the day my mom used to plant her garden. I remember it well...because it was also my good friend's birthday. After the birthday party...I helped plant the garden. Planting a garden 'back in the day' was a big job. Planting my garden...of a few raised beds...is rather like child's play. Since it was May 13th...and since Ryder came to visit...we made it child's play...and he helped me plant potatoes. Yellow, purple and red...who knew potatoes came in so many colours?
Oh...and he rolled in the grass as well! Warm morning sun and an expanse of green grass...it was just too much to resist.
It looks like another glorious day out there today...and though I'm not even tempted to roll in the grass...lying in it with a good book would be nice. But duty calls...and the lawn needs mowing!
May you enjoy the green grass of spring....
Nice website!
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been so beautiful here in North Carolina that I can not decide whether to roll in the grass in my backyard with my dog or go to the beach and roll in the sand ... may be both!
ReplyDeleteBrings back wonderful memories of childhood summers! Beautiful pics
ReplyDeleteIt is so wonderful that these days I can read about your spring as I revell in the comforts of late autumn! Love your blog :)
ReplyDeleteIt really was a great day for rolling in the grass. I mowed my lawn yesterday and planted things. We are promised another nice day...Hope you can fit in some reading and relaxing...
ReplyDeleteA beautiful time of year with the green grass and blue skies!
ReplyDeleteLove that you had some garden help..a little boy can be a big help!
I am amazed at all the different colors of veggies that we can now grow..
Boys and dogs - anything more appealing on a beautiful late spring day?
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I still like to lay on the grass. . but now it is usually with a camera in hand.
ReplyDeleteRyder is such a great little study with the camera. . .I was thinking of him the other day when I was looking at E's family photos. . .Back then .. curls were kept rather subdued. .I like R's curls.
OH. .and congratulations on being Blogger of Note today . ..I'm absolutely thrilled to have someone I know take center stage. .
Your blog always has been and always will be one of my absolute first stops of the day .. its a favorite every day of the year.
I love your pictures! I recently suffered from meningitis and was hospitalized for 8 days in a cold, dark room. When I came home, spring had sprung...nothing had bloomed before I got sick. I spent most of my first few days of recovery on my front porch. I had lost some use of my right side but i was using my left hand to take as many pictures from my rocking chair on the porch as I could. your pictures remind me of the pictures I was taking and how I was seeing my world. Thank you! God Bless. ~tessa oglesby~
ReplyDeleteSpring is my absolute favorite season! Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, Judy. Love the fur babies.
ReplyDeleteJudy...so happy for you! I've always thought you were a noteworthy blogger!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun...and he is just so sweet...I mean Ryder:) Kathy
ReplyDeleteIt has been ages since I rolled in the grass .. I think I shall have to try it again some time soon as it looks like so much fun!
ReplyDelete"R" is getting so big -- love his "peace" pose. The potatoes you planted will be so pretty when harvested.
Have a wonderful weekend!
What a great, fun mosaic of the dog rolling in the grass. Ranen, too!
ReplyDeleteYou always seem to have interesting things to post about.
I'm glad you have a nice solution to your tractor troubles, though I'm sure it's not the schedule your hubby had in mind.
Oops, sorry, I meant Ryder. No offense to the young man!
ReplyDeleteWe are so lucky to have this sunshine and blessed to have such good neighbors. Seeding and cropping is number one...
ReplyDeleteIsn't it true about gardening with our mothers? It was so much work, but I rather like playing in my little raised beds.
congrats on making Blogs of Notes. Your photos are engaging and your blog design cheerful and I expect I'll enjoy each visit.
ReplyDeletethanks...
ReplyDeleteYou made me realize that the option to enjoy the sun is there ...it's tempting and I have to get away from that thought... because this house needs some work inside today.
ReplyDeleteI hear you won an award? Congratulations!
I was wandering about in the grass today, too, but it was a much cooler grass than yours, I think. Ryder and you make a good planting team. I bet he'll be around for the harvest, too, when he'll be very excited to see what his sowing reaps.
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog and all it's pictures and memories. Congrats on Blog of Note, please drop by my blog sometime =)
