Destination Bear Creek ...

A sunny Sunday afternoon cannot be wasted!
It seemed the perfect day for a drive up the eastern shores of Harrison Lake.

We hopped in the car with friends...
and drove until the pavement ended...
and another fifteen kilometers up a logging road.

We stopped to check out Rainbow Falls...
where the mist cooled us off in no time.

Just up the road we reached our destination...
where Bear Creek enters the waters of Harrison Lake.

Even in this remote spot...
we were reminded of our 'home team'...
and our Saturday night hockey hero!

We found us a spot along the lake shore...
and soaked in the sunshine and the views.

The books we had brought for our reading enjoyment ...
lay unopened beside us.

No sunny Sunday afternoon outing is complete without food!
And so we spread out the table...
and had our first picnic of the season.
It was all good!

Some thirty-five years ago...
on a sunny Sunday afternoon...
we made this same trip with these same friends.

We stopped at a lookout over Harrison Lake on that day so long ago...
and took this photo.
Then we carried on to Bear Creek where we had a picnic.

We talked about that yesterday...
and decided that if we waited more than 30 years between visits to Bear Creek...
this might be our last one.

We don't know of anyone organizing senior's bus trips to Bear Creek!

But then again...it's only a 45 minute drive.
We may just go again next Sunday!

  2. My parents camp at Bear Creek , but it is located in Kelowna. Your Bear Creek looks beautiful too. I do hope you make it there often,,,,right in your own backyard it sounds like. Often those are the places we don't get to enjoy enough. Have a great week,,,there is rain in our forecast, hopefully Wed the sun will shine!! But I sure like it when God does the watering of the yard! Much easier!!!

  10. We've never been so we better get on that bus. I love those kind of repeat experiences that leave us wondering why we let so much time pass between adventures. Beautiful photos.

  16. It seems to me that I use the word beautiful often when commenting on your posts. I try to think of something else to say, but honestly that is the first word that comes to mind when I see the scenery from your corner of the world.
Sounds like a lovely day with the sun shining and a picnic to enjoy.

  20. Bear Lake is only 45 minutes away? That's "swing by on the way home from church" close. Or at least I think that it is....kilometers? You are so cute when you go speaking in Canadian!

  21. What a privilege it is for me to finally be able to catch up on some blog visits. Bear Creek looks like the kind of place I would dream of visiting. I never tire of seeing pictures from your part of the world, and you always document them in an interesting way. The pictures from 30 years ago were fun too. Are we really that old?
