After a two day delay...
we celebrated a few birthdays with a family picnic.
we celebrated a few birthdays with a family picnic.
We drove to the nearest provincial park...
a mere ten minute drive from our place.
a mere ten minute drive from our place.
We made ourselves right at home...
and let the Colonel do the catering.
And since he recommends we lick our fingers...
he likely doesn't care at all if we eat right out off the buffet table either!
It was perfect picnic weather...
rather like what we would have ordered for our camping experience last week...
if we had been given the chance!
And the birthday boys had their cake pie...
and ate it too!
A lot of things floated down the river...
but the grands stayed dry...mostly!
but the grands stayed dry...mostly!
Nap time cut the party a little short for Maelyn.
It's just hard to find a time that works with everyone's schedule!
And since we were picnicking at Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park...
of course we made a hike to the falls before leaving for home.
No matter how often we go...we never tire of it!
Up was a piece of cake!
Down...with flip flops...a little trickier.
The grands wondered if there were any bear along the trail...
and I assured them that they would be in hiding with so many people out and about.
After the fact...I noticed there was a warning to watch out for a large black bear...
sighted numerous times recently in this area!
Oh.
Glad we missed him.
Have a great day!
Such a fun picnic..you got some good shots of your grandies.
ReplyDeleteHi Judy!
ReplyDeleteThis birthday celebration looks like a wonderful, relaxing family day! I love the pretty sundresses all your granddaughters were wearing. The Bridal Falls are beautiful! I don't think I'd ever tire of seeing them either.
We'll continue to celebrate those family picnics....cute how we all structure our own styles....
ReplyDeleteAnd Bridal Falls is right in our back yard...we love that place.
What a great family celebration. The park is beautiful and those falls are definitely worth the hike!! Love the photo of the little napper walking across the bridge :0)
ReplyDeleteBridal Veil Falls is a spectacularly beautiful spot. Looks as if the picnic was a hit. I have something in common with the birthday boys as I'd prefer pie instead of cake myself. Love the pic of Ranen helping herself to melon.
ReplyDeleteOH it's been years since we've been there. .I need to go again. I'm glad you had such a great day together.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the most wonderful place for a gathering, so pretty, the falls were gorgeous!!! Sounds like we both are having bear encounters lately...tee-hee
ReplyDeleteGlad your enjoying the summer!!
I have fond memories of Bridal Falls...it is where Andy asked me to marry him.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing pictures of your family celebrations!
Love how the girls are wearing pretty dresses to a picnic! Looks like such a great family time... I think we'll plan a trip out that way too. Very soon.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of a prettier place to hold a family picnic. The Bridal Falls are so beautiful. I am thankful for the Colonel too. He helps us out with our family picnics too. Your pictures are so much fun to look at.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun picnic! Although I've driven by Bridal Veil Falls many, many times, I don't think we've ever stopped to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteYour grandchildren are so cute.
I love Ranen's hair! I'm sure you all had a great time at a place I would have loved to have visited, too, instead of being at work all day.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a wonderful way to celebrate some family birthdays. The Bridal Veil Falls are so pretty and I imagine the sound they made was most relaxing.
ReplyDeleteHope the grands couldn't read the bear warning signs :-).
What a great time and wonderful pictures! Glad you shared! Also glad you missed the bear! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, incredible pics of the falls. How beautiful. Love them. And cute grands too.
