the dahlia

When words escape, flowers speak.
~  Bruce W. Currie

Big, bold and beautiful...the dahlia stands tall in the garden.

I'm into growing dahlias...
for the second year now.
I'm not sure what took me so long!
With a few more colours this year than last...
the dahlia is the queen of my autumn garden.

There's no time for words today...
and so I'll let my dahlias speak.

Have a great day...

  2. How beautiful!...I am envious...mine had a blight this year so had only a few poor blooms.

  4. The dahlias speak beautifully from your photos. Ours didn't do so well this year, and some say it is due to the long, cold start to summer. The ducks couldn't keep ahead of the slugs, so some plants had a hard time recovering. Still, there is a pretty show!

  7. Aren't they amazing? From baby fingernail sized to dinner platter sized and so tempting to add just one more each year!

  8. Beautiful! I've seen some dahlias that are as wide as dinner plates this summer. Your flowers must make wonderful bouquets!

  9. And they are speaking so beautifully... I raised dahlias one year and have no idea why I stopped because they were amazing. Perhaps I'll get back to it. Oh. I remember. Labor intensive. Had to dig them up and save them and baby them too much. Oh drat! Like the glads...

  10. Only the second year and look at that mosaic. One would think if one did not know, that you had been growing these beauties for at least 30 years. Where(if ever) does you talent end?
