to the summit and back...

That is where I have been these past few days...
while missing in action from My Front Porch.

For the past two years...ten of us have been part of the MGCC team.
For the very first time...we were all together at one place.
Seven of us live in the Fraser Valley...
and so have had the opportunity to get together a few times over the past years.
Charlotte and Betty live in Manitoba and decided it was high time they met the rest of the team...
and decided to fly out for a few days.

Ellen is our American 'cousin' and drove up from the Seattle area to join the party.

On Tuesday morning, we all met at the airport to welcome those arriving by plane...

...and moved to Lovella's for 'high tea'.

And just for our out-of-town guests...
we had some 'typical' west coast rain to end a two-month drought.
We had the wettest August day on record...
and we all got a wee bit wet as we toured that afternoon.

We wondered how a cruise on Harrison Lake would work out in the rain on Wednesday...

...but the next morning dawned bright and clear and we enjoyed a lovely afternoon on Bev and Harv's 'cruiseship'.

Kathy and Marg were our 'social co-ordinators' for the summit...
and what a fine job they did of organizing everything to the last detail.

We had a lot of laughs...
those two make quite a team!

Yesterday we visited Minter Gardens.
We somehow managed to spend almost three hours at the brunch table...
followed by a delightful stroll through the gardens.

We had such a good time together these last few days...
blogging friends who have become friends in real life!

It all ended last night...

...with a good old-fashioned Mennonite supper hosted by Julie.
Borscht, Zwieback, Schnetki and flapper pie.

Amid laughter and tears...
it all came to an end.
It was the first ever MGCC Summit.
It won't be the last!

And now...it's time for our annual camping trip with the grands.
What fun we will have!

Have a wonderful Labour Day weekend...

  1. Sounds like you had a wonderful time! And the pictures are great, too! For about 10 years, the ladies i our church went on an annual retreat. We would shop and eat and share.... it was always very special. Your summit reminded me of those sweet times of fellowship with Christian friends.
