summer jam session...

The blackberries are hanging on the vine...
waiting to be picked.

There was just one small thing that needed to be looked after first.
The buckets labeled 'Blackerries 2010' were still in the freezer.

They came out the other day...
and are now ready to be enjoyed as blackberry jelly.

Now I can re-fill the buckets...
and change the label to read 'Blackberries 2011'.
Don't ask...
the system seems to work!

I've had a few jamming sessions over here this summer.

The grands came to stir up some raspberry freezer jam a few weeks ago.
They like to take home a stash of jam to call their own!

We don't necessarily follow food safe rules in Grammy's kitchen.
Licking is allowed...

...and on occasion, hair gets in the way!

Tonight we plan to take in a summer jam session of another sort.
Party in the Park...
an outdoor concert in downtown Chilliwack every Friday night during the summer.
Summer is soon over...
so it is time we went!

Enjoy the weekend...

  1. I made the last of my strawberry jam the same way ..out of the freezer.
You have some pretty good help there ..train them young and they'll be teaching their friends how to make jam.
    Enjoy your jam session tonight.

  7. Now I must admit, this is a new way to do raspberry jelly, but if it works, why stop? You are making memories and they look so happy with that.

  9. Blackberry jam is what I've been wanting to make. My blackberry plant is not giving me enough to make a batch yet though. Never thought of freezing them and then when I get enough make some. I'm doing that next time.

  13. Hi Judy
I came to your blog via Elizabeth of French Village Life.

How lovely making jam with your darling grandchildren - so special!!!
My little grandies live in France so we don't see them all the time, but when we do it's so special for us all.

I'm off to check out your other blogs - I'll be back.

  16. No blackberries to be found here...and this after my huge love affair with them just two years ago.! I am envious!

  17. No berries left in my freezer - I mustn't have been as good at picking and freezing as you were. The blackberries here are still pretty sour, but they are HUGE and I can't wait until they are ready!
