the first ninety years...

William Baerg
September 14, 1922

That makes my dad 90 years old...
today!

We have a few plans for the weekend.
We will celebrate the first ninety years...
lived well and with enthusiasm!

He always has a story or two to tell.
Maybe today we will tell some as well...
about our memories of our father.

He loved to travel...
to play baseball and hockey and go fishing.
He was a mechanic and a bodyman...
and restored old cars.
He loved his Fords!
He was a farmer...
a good  friend and neighbour to many.
But most important...
he is my father!

I feel most blessed today to still have my father around.

The Lord bless you
    and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you
    and give you peace.
Numbers 6: 24-26

Happy 90th Birthday, Dad!

  1. Yes, a happy and blessed birthday to him. We've seen the Lord be faithful to him through a few recent events. It's wonderful to have a testimony. You have a couple of sons who look very much like their granddad. I had not realized. Sometimes, when I see a photo of your dad, I think he looks as if he could be Billy Graham's brother. ☺

    1. Vee...I'm smiling about the resemblance to Billy Graham comment. He has been approached in public places by people thinking he may be Billy Graham.

  4. I love how we spend similar milestones together this week. Ninety years of a wonderful family. And you know that last verse is so beautiful..that's the one our Papa gives to all of us. I love it that there are so many connections with our milestones.

  15. Such a great post Judy. You are blessed to have your Dad. I wish you and your family a wonderful time of celebrating together. I think that something is certainly lost after parents pass away. Having reasons to celebrate become a bit easier to neglect as a whole family.

  16. You and your father look very much alike. I am told that I look very much like my dad looked too. This is one of the best posts(commentary and photos)about your dad, and the man that he is. I like how you did the mosaic on him and the loving words you used to share his life. I wish him a most happy 90th birthday. Ninety looks good on him.
