After a few weeks of sunshine we were due some rain.
And it came...
on the long weekend.
So I spent my Victoria Day indoors.
Though the sky was grey...
the view from the kitchen window wasn't all bad.
I am quite enjoying my Nelly Moser clematis these days!
When we are on a road trip in the USA...
we stop by McD*s for coffee every once in awhile.
(Their coffee is good...and the service is quick!)
And every so often we have their cinnamon melts...
one order to share.
I always tell myself that I will try making them sometime.
Sometime arrived yesterday.
I used cinnamon bun dough...
made teeny little dough balls....
bathed them in cinnamon sauce...
and baked them in mini-pie pans.
A drizzle of cream cheese frosting while the buns were still warm...
was the icing on the cake.
The kids stopped by and we had cinnamon mini-melts as a Victoria Day treat.
We spent the evening around the table with good friends.
And that was Victoria Day 2012.
Have a terrific Tuesday!
Have a terrific Tuesday!
Ohhhh that clematis! Mine did not survive the freaky spring. I don't think that I can bear trying it again.
ReplyDeleteWhat? You like that coffee after Tim's? Oh we can not suffer it. =D We might be able to suffer the cinnamon buns. Yes, I really do believe we might.
Thinking of passing on the recipe you used.... would love to try :)
ReplyDeleteI'll send you the recipe I used...and maybe I'll post it over on the MGCC blog one of these days.
DeleteOh you have the best cooking experiments at your house! These look fabulous! Boy was it raining here yesterday and windy!!
ReplyDeleteWe had a rainy day in Victoria' namesake city yesterday, but we didn't care. The boys are here, and we played games inside and out, and finally roasted wieners and marshmallows on the fire outside - a good damp day for a fire!
ReplyDeleteThe cinnamon rolls look wonderful. Makes my mouth water. I love your pathway. I am in the process of trying to make one for my garden. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteOh, are you going to share your recipe???
ReplyDeleteThe recipe will be posted on Mennonite Girls Can Cook on June 14th :)
DeleteYour clematis is stunning and oh those cinnamon buns!!! What a perfect Victoria Day treat on a rainy weekend. Please send some of that rain our way.....
ReplyDeleteYour clematis is gorgeous! Glad I read the comments because I was hoping you'd be posting this recipe on the MGCC blog. I love them although I don't indulge very often! We don't have a Cinnabon here on the Island and I think McD's are a good substitute.
ReplyDeleteOur Victoria Day was sunny and very warm - very nice for May. We've had snow before :)
Yum those look good; and the perfect way to spend a very wet holiday Monday!
ReplyDeleteMy Nellie Moser Clematis is also in full bloom now with the double white Clematis not far behind. As for rain - did you hear it last night? I thought the Falls had been rerouted over my roof! It's made for 3 antsy grandkids who had nowhere but inside the house to run off their steam!
ReplyDeleteI'll be trying those cinnamon minis when you post the recipe.
Your cinn-a-melts look scrumptious, I can almost smell their wonderful aroma through your post.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a cinnamon melt at McDonald's, but their coffee is surprisingly good. Your cinnamon melts look very tasty. The clematis is in an ideal spot to enjoy from your kitchen window. Glad the rain didn't spoil your holiday plans.
ReplyDeleteThose look yummy! I love anything cinnamon!
ReplyDeleteLove that idea! Sounds like a good day! It was for us too! I baked lemon buns instead of cinnamon buns and spent the evening with good friends.
ReplyDeleteMMMm, so yummy looking. Glad to hear the recipe will be posted. As Pondside said, it was rainy here too. But we've had such lovely weather for the past few weeks and the rain is freshening everything nicely.
ReplyDeleteOH those cinnamon melts looks so perfect. Thanks for the idea! I am loving your Nelly Moser Clematis too...I need to find one of those.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen those yummy looking cinnamon melts before. We are not big on cinnamon or bought dough here in the UK but I really wish we were. I love it all. My daughter lived in US for 7 years and makes delicious buns when she's here:)
ReplyDeletedrip drip drip...oh dear, let me wipe the drool off my keyboard...
ReplyDeleteThose look too amazing. I have never ordered them...but now I will ;) I like their coffee too. Seattle's Best around here.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, why do I live the whole way across the country? I bet your inlaws are so thankful God led them into your family. They look amazinly good!
