fall foliage finale...

We know that all good things must come to an end
(according to an old English proverb)
...and so too the beautiful colours of autumn that we have been enjoying this past while.

There is rain in the forecast for the foreseeable future...

...and so these views of a few days ago will be a thing of the past.

The limbs will soon be bare...
the reds, golds and greens will disappear.

Autumn is a season followed immediately by looking forward to spring.
- Doug Larson

I know many of us can identify with that quote...
at least in a small way!

But winter is waiting in the wings.
The snow-capped peaks are here to stay...for a long while.
 Each season has it's beauty...
let's not miss the delights of winter!

Can I add that I hope the 'delights of winter' don't overstay their welcome?
'Cold' is not my best friend.

Enjoy the day...

  1. It may not be your best friend, but it brings its own delights out your way - that mountain, fires on a chilly night (I'd think of more, but it's really not my friend either!)

  2. Ahh yes that is good counsel Judy. To enjoy our winter. I, too, hope winter does not overstay it's welcome :0)

  3. But the beautiful, beautiful snow!!! Autumn is my favorite season, but I do look forward to the quietness that seems to come with snow (and always wish for a white Christmas LOL) Blessings, Peg

  4. It's hard to say good bye to that foliage...but get your skates on girl...soon we will be skating to each others home for coffee and enjoy the warmth around the fireplace.

  5. Love winter too, but COLD is not my friend either! Lovely photos of the fall foliage finale!

  6. Winter is a wonderful season but I agree long as it doesn't last too long. I like all seasons but there are a few I'd autumn!
The snow on the peaks looks beautiful!

  7. You know, the photos I love best are the ones of the mountains taken from your front porch! You live in a lovely part of the world.

  8. Such wonderful photos!

I agree with you, Judy, that a very damp cold is not my best friend either!

Autumn and Spring are the seasons that bring the weather I enjoy. I'm still hanging onto to autumn awhile longer :)

  9. You talk about autumn coming to an end....... turns out the same thing is happening tonight/tomorrow here in northerly Alberta. They are warning winter is at the back door.

Ah well, it's been a lovely fall ride so far.......

    your photos are lovely!

  10. I think your photos are exceptionally beautiful! I enjoy winter but for your sake I do hope it does not overstay. If it does I do know you will find a way to creatively get through it.

  11. How majestic and beautiful! These photos are so beautiful. Autumn is my favorite season and I always get a little sad towards the end when all the leaves begin to fall. Thanks for sharing!)
