skipping...seriously!

It was long ago...

...when my daughter, Heidi, took her skipping rope on the road.
We were on vacation in Kelowna...
and she was skipping...
just for the fun of it!

Fast forward several decades...

...and my granddaughters recruited Grandpa to help turn so they could skip on the back patio.

That was a few years ago.
Who would have known that Emme would one day be taking her skipping rope on the road?

She's back from participating in the Canadian Rope Skipping Competition in Moncton, New Brunswick.
She happens to be one of our country's best skippers!
A few things have changed since the carefree days of skipping in the back yard.
The rope is made of metal.
The hair is always in french braids.
The shoe laces have no chance of coming undone.
It is serious business these days.
Oh...did I mention she has to practice?
I am so proud of you, Emme!

  1. That's awesome! I guess skipping has changed alot since I was a girl. It was a favorite childhood passtime and very popular on the school ground. I loved double dutch too. Congrats to Emme!

  10. It was great catching up on your last half a dozen posts! Learned something about the skipping - great safety precautions on the hair and the laces! Fabulous pictures of your darling grand! You live in a beautiful place - loved that clematis - could never grow one! And the five sisters and one brother post was a lot of fun! God bless!

  12. We are all a little proud of her..and for good reason. I love that photo! I can't imagine how much energy that must take and it reminds me of all the skipping on the playground in elementary school. Singing "the old grey mare" comes back to me.
