the year that was....

A new year is upon us...
a blank book of 365 pages waiting to be written.
I began on page one...
thankful for the sunshine, the snow nearby and the beauty that surrounds us.
We enjoyed a drive along the Fraser River...
a warm bowl of soup at a restaurant along the way...
and a late afternoon walk along the Vedder River.
it was a good start to the book called 2016.

Before I do too much writing in my new book...
let me gather a few memories of the year that was.

January ~ It was a mild and warm month...
and included some 'sister time' at Harrison Hotsprings Resort.

February ~ We cruised around tip of South America and spent a week in Peru.
The highlight? A visit to Machu Picchu.

March ~ Spring came early as did the blossoms!

April ~ Easter and tulip time!

May~ making hay.

June ~ Camping at Whistler with Emme and Spencer.

July ~ Family picnics, camping, hiking and just enjoying summer in the valley.

August ~ a trip to the east coast of Canada
...where we enjoyed the delights of Quebec, New Brunswick and PEI.

September ~ last grass harvest of the year.

October ~ A time for Thanksgiving!

November ~
The calm before the the valley was hit by a huge wind storm!

And then came December...

...and Christmas Day
(which always includes brunch with our favorites).

A white Christmas called for a Christmas Day late afternoon walk.

The last week of December included some fun times in the snow on the hills nearby...

...and lots of cold, crisp days in the valley.

It was a good year.

I thank God for His faithfulness...
and am thankful that 'come what may' He is still in control!

Wishing you all a Happy New Year.

  1. Oh, Judy!!! How I do love seeing your life!!! You live in such a beautiful place and I linger over each and every photo!!! Happy New Year to you and your lovely family!! Wishing you a very blessed 2016!!!
"Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness." Psalm 65:11
    Psalm 65:11

  2. Lovely photo review of 2015! It's always amazing to see all that has gone on...

  3. What a beautiful, full year it was! If I had taken a quiz on this blog asking when you went to Peru, I would have said 2014. Everything with other people's "time" is rather fluid for me. One thing I know about 2016 is that those grands are going to keep right on growing! And, yes, God is ever and always in control.

  4. Awww - a great review of 2015 and what a year it was for you and your family! You live in such a beautiful part of our country and have captured your love for it in your pictures and words. Your travels always inspire me! Happy New Year to you and to your beautiful family!

  5. You have had some wonderful experiences throughout the year, both t home and further afield.
Wishing you a happy new year now.

  6. As always, I love you can encapsulate the year so neatly! Your pictures are amazing! I too want to take this opportunity to wish you God's best . . . . His beautiful handwriting on these blank pages of 2016! May it be a sweet year.

  7. A lovely review of your lovely year. Happy New Year!! xx

  8. Great pictures to go along with your diary to the past year! You have been to some amazing places and captured them well. God's very best to you as you begin 2016! I look forward to following along.

  9. A wonderful recap of your year, Judy. I confess to being a wee bit jealous of your white Christmas. May God's blessings pour upon you in 2016!

  10. Happy New Year, Judy. I'm looking forward to reading about your adventures and family in 2016!

  11. on your picture where brunch is mentioned...can you give the recipe for the bottom left side slice of goodness? Thanks.

    1. It is called Christmas Morning Wifesaver...and my version is much like the one posted here: I use thinly sliced deli ham. It's been our traditional Christmas morning breakfast for decades!

  12. Beautiful monthly pictorial... that would make a gorgeous calendar ! May your 2017 be as lovely!

  13. Judy, those are such beautiful pictures. Your months in review caused me to think about how beautiful God has created this earth for us.

  14. That was a great visit to your 2015, Judy! Today, for the first time since early November, I opened my laptop (I have been working from my phone!). Reading your post, especially your last line 'I thank God for His faithfulness...
and am thankful that 'come what may' He is still in control!' was very good for me this morning. Thank you for that!

  15. Sorry to be visiting so late, Judy! Your year was a wonderful one, and your photos as always are magnificent!
The end of 2015 meant multiple eye surgeries for me. I had bilateral cataracts and glaucoma surgeries. Thankfully, all went fairly well--I had some complications with one eye, that had to be corrected again with follow up surgery. Now I intend to stay healthy for 2016 ;) I find as I am still healing that I can't stay online too long, but that is improving every day. The world is much brighter and clearer for me now---a true blessing!

  16. Slowly, and with much happiness, I went through each picture that you so beautifully shared here, and found myself thanking God, for you, your family, your photography, and for ALL the loveliness that our Father provides for us, as we walk through each year with Him. Every time I leave "My Front Porch", I leave thankful for the inspiration and the encouragement I find here. Thank you! It all makes me smile, especially when you reminded us, that our God is truly in control of it all.

Looking forward to more visits here.
    Happy Saturday to you!

  17. Enjoy your photos always...reminders of all of God's creation and just how beautiful it is, if only we see!

  18. Happy New Year Judy. You travelled many roads and byways through 2015 and it's evident your home and family are where you are happiest, no matter where you wander in this world. All the best for 2016,

'The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it.'
