As I mentioned yesterday morning...I had a little visitor in pink.
She came the previous afternoon...complete with diaper bag hastily thrown together...and bottles and formula picked up enroute to Grammy's home. She was quite unaware of the impromptu sleepover that was arranged...all she knew was that her next meal was long overdue!
On Wednesday afternoon, Heidi was rushed to emergency with postpardom complications...and soon into surgery. When it became obvious that she would be unable to feed the baby, it was decided Maelyn would spend the night with Grammy. I was rather nervous about having my 9-day-old granddaughter for the night...one who had never had a bottle or formula. However, she is such a sweet baby...and really didn't seem to mind who was feeding her...or where the milk was coming from.
We went to the hospital in the morning...Mommy was not looking so good, but so delighted to see her baby. Her hemoglobin was dangerously low...and a blood transfusion was required. Last night she was released from the hospital...but it will be some time before she'll be back to her usual energetic self!
It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada...and I have so much to be thankful for! Today I am specifically thankful for the medical care we take for granted...and those who looked after our daughter in her need. I am thankful that Heidi is on the mend...and that she has a wonderful, caring husband...and an angel of a baby who slept through most of the drama of the last few days. And I'm thankful for all those friends who care...and prayed on our daughter's behalf.
As the sun sets on each new day...let's remember to thank Him from whom all blessings flow!* * * * *
And speaking of sunsets...last night as the sun was setting, a shiny black pick-up pulled across the field and parked behind our back patio.
Jeremy has a new truck and the grandkids are quite excited about it...and wanted Grammy and Grandpa to see their new set of wheels! Ryder was beside himself...what is it with boys and trucks?
Oh no, I am so sorry to hear that Heidi has had some complications. She's a trooper even in the middle of it grinning for the camera.
ReplyDeleteOh it's wonderful to have a grandmother who can step in in times of trouble. Praise God, yes, we all have much to be grateful for even in the middle of a big mess.
God bless your Thanksgiving. I'll be thinking of you all up there!

Oh, you did awesome. You have inspired me in so many ways as you continue to show love to your grandchildren. They are your trophies and I look so forward to being with my trophies this weekend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to your whole family.
I sure hope that someday I will have a Maelyn. ( I love that name)
Thank you for being such a great mom. Heidi is so lucky to have you. Take care of YOURSELF too don't forget :) I know I would have SUNK LIKE A STONE had it not been for MY mom after my 3 c-sections, and PP complications as well. Take care all of you.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that everything worked out and I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving. Please stop by Thankyourdonor.ca It's a CBS social media website that allows recipients of blood transfusions to share their story. It would be great if you shared this one. Have a great Thanksgiving!
Judy so glad you were there to help out with the babe and will continue to do so. Our love and prayers are with the new little family.
ReplyDeleteHowever we must also salute Ryder in his dad's new set of wheels. The world around him can crash, but this was his best day. Go Ryder Go
A blessed Thanksgiving to you all.
Martha
I'm so sorry to hear about Heidi, she is amazing to be looking so cheerful even in hospital.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with you all.
Judy,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about Heidi's complications and do pray that she is on the mend now.
Such a precious little granddaughter you have.
~Kim
We are so thankful with you that Heidi is on the mend. I remember well the fear that came so soon after our 2nd grandson's birth 4 years ago. Like you we can rejoice in God's great mercy and care.
ReplyDeleteBy the way - what is that gorgeous arbour plant - a fall blooming Clematis? And I love the truck/grandkids picture.
Have a great Thanksgiving with your family and precious little ones.
Oh, Judy. I feel just terrible that I missed your prayer request yesterday. I'm so glad that your daughter received the treatment she needed, and I pray that she regains her strength soon.
ReplyDeleteI know this Thanksgiving will be so special for all of you. You are such a blessed and loving family.
Oh Judy, I forgot to tell you that I was amazed that you noticed the tractor on the shelf in my "husband's" room.
ReplyDeleteI asked him about it, and he said to tell you that it is an 8N. He said that at one point they had two on their farm.
You could blow me over with a feather. I confess that I am a through and through city girl.
Praise God that Heidi was OK and that you were able to give such good care to Maelyn, which I'm sure made Heidi feel better in this worrisome time! I will pray that Heidi will heal without further complications.
ReplyDeleteHave a very happy Thanksgiving!
Hugs, Pat
What a beautiful baby....absolutely lovely! Thoughts, prayers and praise with your family at this time as we approach the Thanksgiving weekend.... thank you for sharing your challenges as well as the "good news!"
ReplyDeleteJudy, so glad your daughter is better. I will keep her in my prayers. Little Maelyn is adorable. I'm glad, too, that all went well when you were keeping her.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you ~ we truly do have much to be thankful for. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
Wanita
Your new granddaughter is precious! I'm so thankful that your daughter was able to get the medical attention she needed ... and that you were available to help with the little one. I know your daughter rested easier knowing her precious gift was well taken care of. May Father God be your daughter's strong provider during her recovery.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear that mother and baby are doing well. How fun to experience your first sleep over with your new little darling! My little grandson is two and we have tried to keep him over night twice and he refuses to sleep! I am hoping when he gets older he will come and stay, after all, it is a sleep over!
