a season of thanks...

We will be celebrating Thanksgiving over here this weekend...
though it still feels rather summery in this part of the country.
We have just had our driest spell in 133 years...
for as long as they have kept records...
and there is no precipitation on the horizon.

The garden is still offering up it's fruit...
and we are enjoying it daily.

And on the farm...

...they finished cutting the last crop of grass yesterday.
The corn harvest was completed a few days ago.
Things are winding down out in the fields.

It seems the perfect time to celebrate Thanksgiving!

Turkey and trimmings...
and pumpkin pie.

It is not how much we have,
but how much we enjoy,
that makes happiness.
Charles Spurgeon

Have a wonderful weekend...

  1. Love the Chas Spurgeon quote! Hope you have a wonderfully blessed celebration!

  2. Beautiful photos Judy. Enjoy the great weather for this holiday weekend. I like the quote by Spurgeon. Happy Thanksgiving blessings to you and yours. Pamela

  3. gorgeous views. enjoy your holiday.

are those grapes in your grouping there on the right side? (:

  4. Amen! Beautifully said. I love your Sweet Autumn Clematis (is that what it is?). I planted some on my trellis this spring and I hope it looks like yours some day. Did you plant it on both sides of the trellis?
    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!!!!

  5. Lovely mosaics, Judy. Despite the lack of rain, your fruits and clematis seem to be thriving.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

  6. Love that quote, Judy. A very happy Thanksgiving to you!

  7. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

  8. The Spurgeon quote was terrific... Happy Thanksgiving to you! Your photos, as usual, are beautiful.

  9. It makes me smile to think of all the dear faces who will most likely be around your table celebrating God's bounty once again. Hope your dad is getting stronger and is one more reason to be thankful.

  10. Happy Thanksgiving, Judy! We all have much to be thankful for.

Do you think the winter's snow will make up for the lack of summer and autumns rainfall? My children in Colorado woke up to two inches of snow today!

  11. Nova Scotia is mostly feeling like fall; cool nights, cold mornings and sometimes quite hot weather throughout the day. The farm looks wonderful; still lots of bounty.

Happy Thanksgiving from my house to yours.

  12. Have a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. Your fruit looks wonderful, here in the UK fruit has not been successful with such a wet summer :(

  13. Happy Thanksgiving, Judy! I'm thankful for you and your encouraging words.

  14. Happy Thanksgiving, Judy. Hope you and your family have a wonderful day.

  15. I think we have all your rain, Judy. Wish I could send some back around. Have a blessed holiday weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family all gathered around.

  16. Love Charles Spurgeon! Happy Thanksgiving. Beautiful shots.

  17. Yes, it's been a wonderful fall...and how special to gather around and count our blessings. Each year seems to have it's own notches...and we will just thank God for all the good things. He will take care of the rest.
I can't wait to dig into the turkey on Monday. I have two little boys looking at it and wondering.....

  18. Once again.. beautifully captured! Thinking of you as you set the table and count the blessings. May the Lord give you the desires of your heart.

  19. Amazing weather! Have a great weekend! Wish I was eating turkey too :)

  20. Charles Spurgeon stated it perfectly, and you shared it all beautifully. Despite the record dryness, God is still providing for you all. What a reason for thankfulness.
Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!
