and then she was four...

It seems but yesterday that she arrived.

How can it be that she is celebrating her fourth birthday already?
She chose Chinese food for her birthday supper...
and we were quite happy to eat at her table!

And since it was too hard to put candles on a fortune cookie...
we found a cookie-cake for dessert!
If it has my name on it...
it must be meant for me...
she decided.
Only on your birthday do you get to have your whole cake and eat it too!

though these four years have flown by...
we have many precious memories of our times with you.

May you always have that ready smile...
that concern for your sister...
that love for your cousins and your friends.
And may you always desire to please Jesus...
as you do now.

Happy Fourth Birthday.
With love,

  1. Oh it really does feel as if it were just yesterday. What a darling girl she is and so tall like her mama and grandmother. Sweet photos! Hope that she has a happy birthday week...

  2. Happy Birthday Maggie! What a pretty birthday girl and such a lovely photo with you both.

  3. What a sweet post! Maggie is just adorable with her sweet smile and big blue eyes. They grow up way too fast don't they? Blessings, Pamela

  4. Where did that time go?!? It seems only yesterday that you posted a photo of pink flowers with the news.

  5. I kinda like the Dutch tradition -- on someone's birthday you must congratulate the family members as well.. and who more worthy than the Grammy of the birthday girl ! Congratulations on the birthday of a darling grandgirl ! She is very sweet and growing up so fast !!

  6. Such a beautiful little girl. So glad she loves Jesus already! :-)

  7. Such a little cutie. What a great photo for her to cherish with the two of you! Chinese sounds real good and it's not even 8 am yet!!

  8. Oh, I remember the day she was born...and here you are...enjoying the time of your lives with this little one. I love the monogrammed cookie. I'll put that idea away for a few months.

  9. The years fly by - but just think of all the lovely memories she has already of her dear grandparents. You two do enjoy your grandchildren so much ! Lovely photo of the three of you!

  10. I love the photo of you and your husband with Maggie. Such a sweet girl. Happy Birthday!

  11. Beautiful photos of a very special occasion! She is such a cutie!

  12. Can't beleive she is four years old! What a lovely photo of the three of you.

  13. I think Maggie is one fortunate little girl to have so many people in your family that love her. You can just see by her sweet smile that she is so happy. The pictures are so good!

  14. Grammy from maggie:

Raspberry is my favorite, and I would like to invite you to my birthday and I like it when you play with me and I loved it when I got to play with emma at your house and I really want to be with you.

    I love you. from maggie

  15. What a cutie and a blessing!
    God bless,

  16. Awwwww - precious moments. I think she has her grammie's eyes and zest for life!

  17. Lovely! Can't believe how grown up she is!

  18. How can it be that Maggie is already four years old? She is a beautiful girl and I know she brings you much joy!
