sunshine and palm trees...

Our retreat from reality in the desert is soon coming to an end...but we have had a wonderful time here.

For the past ten days we have been at our favorite spot in the desert...an oasis near Palm Springs. We've enjoyed the palms, pools and sunshine...lazy river rides and reading on chaise lounges...morning walks along the greens and afternoon smoothies on the deck. We've eaten well and cooked little...we've laughed lots and played Rooke every day...and even did a wee bit of shopping (one needs a few souvenirs to take back and a supply of Bath & Bodyworks product until the next trip south of the border).

Jim and Kathy (my sister and brother-in-law from Manitoba) left winter behind long enough to join us here for a week. What fun it has been!

But we know there is a real life out there...and tomorrow we will be leaving this dream that is Palm Springs behind, and heading home. We hear there has been rain...and lots of it...and we don't mind that we missed out. But there are a lot of things drawing me north...and I'm looking forward to be back home...where I belong!

And now I am off to enjoy the last day of my desert retreat.

  1. Looking forward to your return and understand well the draw to home. But, oh my! What a beautiful time you've had. I hope that it filled you with everything you need until another trip is in the works. Have you tried that AMBER from Bath and Bodyworks? I love that stuff!

  2. Good to hear from you, and I think there are two little twin girls among others who are anxious to have you back. The pictures spell a 1000 words of you having had a wonderful time.

Kim picked up some Bath and Bodyworks 'Japanese Cherry Blossom' soap for me and I'm loving it. Hope you have some of it in your stash.

    Travel safely.
    Missed you,
    Martha

We get in there and there's always so much good smelling stuff that we keep buying and buying. I hope you guys got lots of rest and get to stop on the way back at Starbucks. I love the Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Yummy. Be careful and take care. luv ya, trish

  4. It is late, and I am starting to relax, just looking at your blog!! So nice that you had a good R&R, Judy. I notice that you spell desert two different ways. I learned a way to remember: The thing you want more of, has more ss's (dessert), and the thing you (usually) want less of, has only 1 s(desert). Dairymary

  8. Hi Judy, Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I think it's ironic that you drive all the way from Canada to vacation Palm Springs and it's only 2 hours away for me and I've never been there! Well, maybe once, years ago....it's not a place I ever think to visit. But I see what I'm missing by reading your blog!

  9. I'll be waiting also for your safe return.
    Those grapes make me hungry.
    They were $2.99 at Hofstede's.
