...there's no place like home!

We're back...and how nice to be sleeping in my favorite bed once again! After enjoying a few weeks weeks of California sunshine...we drove the last stretch home to the rhythm of the windshield wipers. That made it feel all the more like we had arrived home!

We walked into the house to find a lovely poinsettia on the kitchen counter, along with a note from my the grandkids next door...a 'welcome home' surprise. It does seem like we were gone a long time...and I was looking forward to seeing everyone.

Baby Maelyn has all but grown up while we were away...

...but she still seemed to remember me, and had some ready smiles for Grammy!

The rain fell throughout the afternoon...but I quite enjoyed the sunset. We left with the geese flying south...but now we're back and I noticed a flock of geese travelling north through the setting sun. I guess two weeks was long enough for them as well!

We had a wonderful vacation...but I don't think I'm ready to spend my winters down south anytime soon. Much as I love to travel...there's no place like home!

Enjoy the weekend...

  1. Welcome Home! What delights awaited you...my gosh! Maelyn has grown soooo much. What a doll baby!

I got quite a chuckle about the confused geese, but I don't think that either you or Elmer are one bit confused.

  2. Judy, Welcome home from me too .. .I think you have the loveliest family. To have them anxious to see you is the best gift we could possible have.
I'm wondering how long those geese will wait before they want to go south again. With winds coming from the south east today.. . you just might see them fly by . ..really fast.

  3. Honestly, I think she did remember you! She was so happy to be at your place...and I must say, you must have pooped her out. I got up one time between 9:30pm and 8am this morning!

I'll bring her over everyday if that's how it works...

  10. Oh Judy that photo of your sunset and your place is stunning. That should win a prize or something, my goodness what a picture. Glad you made it your header for awhile. Would it be okay if I copied it for my collection of beautiful photo's.

Welcome home, I know...we travel so much too, and there is nothing like getting back into your own bed and just being home in your nest. A wonderful feeling.

  11. I'm glad you are back in place. That's what my daughter and I call it. "In place". I used to always tell her if she was in place bad things wouldn't happen. I'm glad you had a neat trip, but happy you are home safe and sound. Little baby Maelyn is so cute and cuddly looking. I know your family is so happy to see you and your husband.
