homeward bound...

There has not been a dull moment this past week.  I had three grands staying here...while their parents left the country in search of sunshine and warm temperatures.  After eagerly  counting down the sleeps until mom and dad would return...they are quite happy to be going home today.

I forgot what it was like to be ruled by someone else's schedule.  Being at school right on time is rather important...and not being there a minute too soon is important as well (since they don't want to wait outside!).   Then after school there were lessons...piano, skipping and karate. In the evening there was homework.   My biggest fear was that I would forget to pick them up somewhere at the appointed time.

They had a cake walk at school...and we baked rainbow cakes for the girls to take.

We also celebrated Ryder's birthday (rather belatedly) with a swim in Harrison Hot Springs pool...

...and a wee cake he could call his own.

And last night...we celebrated Valentine's Day, of course.  Their mom had left packages for each of them.  We had pizza and chocolate fondue...and watched Miracle Dogs.

We've had a lot of fun hanging around this past week...but today they are homeward bound.  As for the other three grands...they have been vacationing in the sunshine as well...and are due home soon.

And now...I'm off to spend some time with my sister from Texas, who arrived on the weekend.  And by the end of the week...my family from Iowa and Manitoba will be here as well. There's a  lot of coming and going at 'my front porch'!

Have a terrific Tuesday...

  5. Is it just me or has your door been revolving ever since you got that new sign for your porch this Christmas. Doesn't it make you wonder who was there when you were not?

  9. Judy, I now know what my parents had to deal with years ago when we so blithely left our 3 elementary school kids with them for a month while we were on a work related trip. I can't believe how I thought it would be a breeze for them.
I love the way you made wonderful memories for your g-kids to cherish. You are an awesome grammy and now deserve some wonderful sister time.

  10. Reminds me of when we used to leave our kids with my parents ... schedues all written out. It seems like so much more to remember when it's not a part of your normal routine.
Your pictures of the kids are fun!
And now... more company. Enjoy and dont worry about us.. we'll just hang out on the porch and wait.
