taste and see

O taste and see that the LORD is good...
blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Psalm 34:8

My granddaughter was over for a sleepover...and so excited about making teddy bear pancakes in the morning. She pulled up a chair...and helped with the process...and was thrilled with the result. I was expecting her to dig in...and eat the pancake immediately.

Instead...she checked it out...and smiled...and exclaimed over it...and admired it. Eventually she ate her fruit...and some of Grandpa's pancakes...but no way would she break into her teddy-bear pancake.

I had to wonder if we are sometimes like that in our relationship with God. We get all excited...and go through the motions...we may even talk about Him...but when it comes right down to it..are we 'tasting' and 'seeing' for ourselves?

Blessings,

  1. Well now...that IS a very special pancake. I can see why she's reluctant to fully partake. ;> What a little cutie pie your grandgirlie is!

  2. The look on her face shows her delight. Isn't it lovely to have special things like teddy bear pancakes for the wee ones to look forward to at Grandma's house?
Once again your Sunday post provokes something in me. Usually it's a good feeling or an affirmation. Today it's an opportunity to really ask myself that very sharp question and look at what it brings up for me.

  3. I want to come to Grandma's house too. Relationships are valued by all and I can only imagine how much God wanted that relationship with mankind.

  4. She will never want plain, old, boring round pancakes again. You fill the role of" wonderful grandma" so well. She is adorable! Great reminder for me and my relationship with my Heavenly Father. Happy Monday!

  5. She is adorable. I would have done the same thing if I had that pancake.

I think we do taste and test, but I also think that is probably okay. Maybe many souls are won that way.

I would have a hard time eating a cute teddy bear pancake too!
