a postcard from san francisco...

We are spending a few days sightseeing in a city which I previously knew only from photos. From open top trolley cars...to cable cars...boats and trains...we are checking out all modes of transportation in order to make the most of our time here.

We walked the Golden Gate Bridge...and far beyond. We had seafood at Fisherman's Wharf, checked out China Town, Little Italy and Union Square. Tomorrow we plan to tour Alcatraz...which happens to be the number one tourist attraction in San Francisco. Who would have thought a former federal prison could be such a drawing card?

Home is on the radar screen...just a few more stops. I'll be back to visit you all soon.

  1. Judy, I loved San Francisco when I visited it a couple of years ago. I think we rode every cable car route as we had fun hanging off the sides as they traversed the hills. The seals sunning them selves on the pier on Fisherman's wharf we also great fun to see. I'm looking forward to seeing all your photos and hearing about your trip when you return. Safe travels!

  5. That's a city I've always wanted to visit - maybe not Alcatraz!.......but the hills and the cable cars, yes.
    Safe journey home!

  6. I hope you were over the bridge before it broke! Poor SF! Having the bridge shut down would make a daily commute a nightmare!

(SF is one of my "must see" recommendation to anyone who will listen. We used to live an hour from downtown SF, and enjoyed visiting the city regularly.)

  7. For some crazy reason, since I read so much about Alctraz, I did want to visit it someday. I guess I am not alone in that. I think it is special that you both have the time to explore together. Great photo of you, and good pictures of the state. Thank you!
