it's a new day...

It is also a New Year!

The old is in the past...
though not soon forgotten.

We cooked our New Year's Fritters portzelky...
and ate them too.
We even shared them with some friends and neighbours.

Now it is time to get back to the routine...
the one that includes a wee bit more exercise...
and a whole lot less eating!

The new calendar is hanging in it's place...
with events marked on it's pages which I am looking forward to.
And others...not so much!
I also know that many things will come my way that are not on the calendar...
things that God only knows.
My prayer is that I can view each day as a gift...
make the most of every opportunity...
and live my life to glorify God.

Enjoy the day.
It is still officially a holiday.

  1. These look yummy...and yes I agree a little more exercise and less food. I like your prayer too and echo it with an 'Amen'!

  2. I need to get back into that routine too. The last Christmas cookie was consumed yesterday, so that should make it a bit easier :).
    Happy New Year!!

  3. I join you! I am taking Lucy on a long walk today. AND eating plain food. AND drinking water. ENOUGH of all the excess!

I know that it's a holiday because when I look down I see pajama pants at 0930! Decadence!

  6. Looks like you guys had the same good new years treats we did over here....oh I ate so many! The days of the new year are not yet told.....but our God holds each one in His loving care before we face each one....I am resting in that.

  7. Lovely looking "Portz". I didn't make them this year but was fortunate to try the "Olebllen" made by a Dutch neighbour.
May God bring many blessings to you and your family in the New Year- every day blessings and some you may not think possible at this time. Thank you for your friendship.

  8. I thought of those when Lovella posted the recipes and knew that no oven was needed and then I though immediately of my expanding waistline and realized I'd have to give them up. Several tins of butter cookies, sausages, cheeses. crackers, candy. Can you freeze crackers?

  9. Judy...such good and wise statements there. I was nibbling on candy during coffee break and wondering why since I could so easily push it aside during Christmas. I did that last year too.
I should go for a walk yet before supper but I think since it is a holiday I'll skip it once more.

  11. It is is true, Judy, that the future is always a mystery no matter how well we plan, hope or desire. With prayer and faith in the the Lord we are prepared!

I will never lose all the weight I hoped to for my daughter's wedding but I am trying my best now that the holidays are over and all the temptations are finished ;)
