don't keep the change...

Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine...
you did for me.
Matthew 25:40 NIV

If you happened to visit the same Costco I did over the weekend...you may have heard Christmas carols being played next to the Salvation Army kettle. It was most lovely...and rather difficult to ignore! If we all gave something...even just our change...what a difference we could make. Let's not pass by those who need our help this Christmas.

  1. Great encouragement Judy. Wow a whole ensemble making music instead of just a bell ringing. How lovely that must have sounded...

  2. True, Judy. If everyone gave just a little so much could be accomplished. I'm off to shop tomorrow and I'll try hard to return home without any change.

  3. This is such a good reminder, Judy. Yesterday at our Costco I saw the Great Dane put something into the SA kettle. He had our two year old grandson in his arms and I hope that the action and the answering "Merry Christmas!" will be imprinted on the wee one.

  6. Very true! A little contribution from each person would go a long way.

  7. Giving to the Salvation Army has a special meaning for me: My father's mother was an alcoholic and had little to the do the family. When she was about seventy, the Salvation Army contacted us and said that she would like to make amends and meet with us again. I was 19...it was the first time I met her. She was tiny, with snow white hair and piercing blue eyes. It was the only time I met her, and I wonder what memories I would have had of her if she had not had addiction problems for years.

At least I have the one meeting, and for that I yearly give to the red kettle while trying not to cry.
