We had a few showers yesterday morning.
Just before the rain arrived...
...the starlings gathered on our front yard for a little meeting.
Maybe they had a change of plans because of the weather.
I chose to go ahead with my schedule and work outside.
I got wet!
As for the bees...they look quite lovely sitting on the flowers...or thistles.
Wasps or hornets on our house...not so much!
I noticed yesterday that they rather like the chimney...
and have settled in right next to it...
a bee subdivision of sorts...
with nests all the way to the top.
That would be 30 feet up there...
and I have not yet found anyone who seems overly enthusiastic about going up to 're-locate' the nests.
I'm still working on that one!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Foaming hornet spray... works like a charm, sprays up to at least that many feet and captures them in foam so they can't get free. It's a gruesome business, but somebody's got to do it.
ReplyDeleteAh, what a cute post. I love the impromptu meeting on top of the tree.
ReplyDeleteOH my man gets quite excited when he finds those little nests. .his spray is always ready ..gives them a shot at night when they are all home and tucked in. .and then gives them a bit of a relocation by way of a gentle nudge.
ReplyDeleteI like how vee says things. ." a gruesome business"
Oh, we found the answer this summer...get your house painted....the painters removed all our nests...Yea...that job is done.
ReplyDeleteGot your windows done?
Love how those birds congregated on your tree! What a great capture with your camera. My boys destroyed some hornets nests one year with their paint guns...
ReplyDeleteI don't recommend it, though. :0)
I love your blog! You and your photos always bring a smile to my face. Thanks for that!

Yes I have to agree with Vee, foaming hornet spray works great! I love the view from the tree in your front yard. Very cute and very simple! Have a great day!

On my walk this morning I saw a line of crows having a meeting just like in your picture ... they were very quiet too.
ReplyDeleteThe ditzy pattern of starlings in the tree made me laugh. Isn't it just wonderful to have an easy going day where you can notice starlings, bees on flowers and yes, even wasp's work?
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a super weekend!
Try a hose-end spray container with soap in it. Bees don't like soapsuds. That way the bees will go away long enough for you to get rid of the nests????
ReplyDeleteIsn't it interesting how the birds found the highest curve of branches to line up on? It's wonderful how your photo highlights that. Do you always have your camera in your pocket?
ReplyDeleteLovely tree with the starlings in conference! Not so fond of hornet's nests.
ReplyDeleteHi Judy
ReplyDeleteI loved your photo with all the starlings on the tree top!
We are headed back home...our wonderful vacation is over. It will be good to see home again.
beautiful pictures Judy!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I don't envy you that job. Wasps are what drive us crazy. HH is always got his can of spray ready and I think he gets a big kick out of it. Gotta be ready to run. I see Lovella has similar words. LOL Blessings
