like eagles...

But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles. They run and don't get tired...they walk and don't lag behind.

Isaiah 40:31 The Message

The eagles have arrived in full force...and all week I've watched them from my kitchen window. They do a lot of swooping and sailing...but at times there were about a dozen just sitting in the tree...and waiting. It was a week where I needed to be reminded of God's promise...that if we wait on Him, He will give us strength. (Click on photo to see the eagles.)

Jeremy is still in the hospital...in the intensive care unit...in isolation. But we are noticing signs of improvement...and are hopeful that he is on the mend. Thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement and prayers on his behalf. We will continue to wait on the Lord.

Sometimes He Calms the Storm
by Scott Krippanye

All who sail the sea of faith
Find out before too long
How quickly blue skies can grow dark
And gentle winds grow strong

Suddenly fear is like white water
Pounding on the soul
Still we sail on knowing
That our Lord is in control

Sometimes He calms the storm
With a whispered peace be still
He can settle any sea
But it doesn’t mean He will

Sometimes He holds us close
And lets the wind and waves go wild
Sometimes He calms the storm
And other times
He calms His child

He has a reason for each trial
That we pass through in life
And though we’re shaken
We cannot be pulled apart from Christ

No matter how the driving rain beats down
On those who hold to faith
A heart of trust will always
Be a quiet peaceful place

As we were driving to the hospital last night, 'Sometimes He Calms the Storm' played on the radio. I think it was meant for us.

  2. I think so, too, and I think that the eagles didn't arrive in those numbers just by chance either. We still have Jeremy in our prayers and so many others, too. Keep looking up just as you've been doing all along...

  3. well that "so many others" works on two levels...Jeremy has so many others praying for him and we do have a lot of people on our prayer list... =)

  4. Amazing photo!! We'll often get one or two at this time of year, but never more than that.
At church last night we sang 'Be Not Afraid" and I thought of you and your precious son - remembered when my Malcolm was very ill several years ago and hard it was not to be afraid. Keep remembering those inspirational words.
Jeremy is in my prayers - I'll be on the mainland this week, and driving long distances is a good time to pray too!

  5. Beautiful eagles! I've seen one so far this winter. They usually show up in late Feb. here in my part of Nebraska. My prayers are with your son for a complete and speedy recovery!

  6. Judy, thank you for sharing those small signs of improvement with us.

It is so hard to not be afraid, but we must trust in God - because He is our savior. I know He has His hand on Jeremy and each of you.

    I'm still praying hard.

  10. Hi Judy
Dot told me about Jeremy and we have been praying for him. It is good news to hear that there has been some improvement. It is one of the hardest things to watch your children suffering.
I have never seen so many eagles. What a precious sign to you from God to keep your strength and trust in him an he will lift you up. I have a great teaching CD set called "I believe I can fly" and it's all about Eagles by Pastor John Burns and he is over in your neck of the woods in Surrey BC. He visited our church a few years ago. Great Teaching.. We have a couple of eagles that hang out on the beach and swoop down on the fisherman's catch. I love to watch them. They are so graceful and majestic.. Love to you all xxxx
