seeing things clearly...

We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!
1 cor. 13 :12 The Message

It seems we've been seeing through foggy lenses over here recently. It became increasingly apparent that hubby could not make out the words in his Bible...especially when he would read aloud passages that were familiar to me!

I solved that problem...and for Christmas he received a brand new, leather bound LARGE PRINT Bible. Somehow it had never occurred to us, that there was such a thing out there. Granted, it will be more like carrying around a laptop than the slimline edition he was used to...but it definitely makes the reading easier.

But, although he can now read his Bible, the daily paper is no longer legible...and the novels are all using much smaller print than they used to (so he claims)! In the midst of our flood this week...he took time off to keep his appointment with the eye specialist. It seems it was high time he started looking through a different lens.

Soon everything will be much clearer...new lenses and bigger print...the rain has stopped...and a much brighter new year lies ahead!

It's the beginning of a new chapter...always a good time to check our focus!

  1. I'm so happy your hubby is seeing better. His new bible is beautiful. And the picture is soooo pretty...I think it should be your Christmas cards for next year. I'm not sure what is wrong with hubby's eyes, but if they are cataracts please don't be afraid of the surgery. My step-dad had it done and now doesn't need his glasses, and it was painless and quick. God's Blessings to you.

  2. It's no fun to have the world dim out and the print get smaller...if only I could grow longer arms I'd be all set. Is it still raining?

  3. All things related to vision are interesting to me these days. Your hubby must be thankful for the inevitable reading glasses. There comes a time for all of us......

  4. Hi! I'm Elizabeth at Grand Occasions and brand new to blogging. I found your blog while browsing and have enjoyed visiting. I just pulled out my husband's grandmother's square iron skillet last night to bake my cornbread in. Nothing like them, huh? I love front porches and yours is quite picturesque and agree it would make a beautiful and personal Christmas card. Please come by and visit me anytime. I would love to meet you.

  5. I thought he'd never show his age.
Oh, well, we won't feel so bad as we all are trying to refocus after the floods....
    Bless you today.

  6. Wonderful Post there Judy...and we are ALL getting there with those eyes! And grin....the laptop...I get it. I have had to photocopy a lot of documents at work and place them in HUGE binders so that I can take them to meetings and be able to actually read them! Who wants to bring out a magnifying glass all the time. The little space in the trifocals simply does not cut it.

  7. Beautful bible! I sometimes borrow large print books out of the library because it's just easier not to strain.

One of the things my husband and I did yesterday was visit our eye doctor for exams. Reading glasses and bifocals are among our best friends these days :-)

    Glad the rain has stopped!
